Muslim Imams Reacts to Lynching of Farkhuna in Afghanistan

So hurt to hear of the death of Sr. Farkhunda, an Afghan women who spoke out in front of a dargah against visiting shrines and wearing talismans, and was then falsely accused of burning the Quran. A mob of angry men literally beat her to death, in front of the watchful eyes of the police, even as she begged them to stop, and then burned her corpse.

As if this was not enough, many of them made videos and pictures of this barbaric tragedy on their cellphones. Someone forwarded me pictures of this incident that made my stomach churn. A sign of how truly civilized a nation is is how it treats its women. May Allah restore the honor and respect that women deserve in our societies!

PS. I do NOT mean to disparage an entire nation because of this incident, and I know that this one act is not representative of the reality of most people, in that region and elsewhere. My comment on 'treatment of women' is meant for all societies, especially Muslim ones, where we are told and taught that Jannah lies under the feet of one woman in our lives! And as our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "The best of you in manners are those who are best to their women." From Dr Yasir Qadhi's Facebook

Our dearly beloved and noble Muslim sister, Farkhunda, has paid the ultimate price, her life, in defense of Tawheed, the truth about Allah's unique Oneness. Armed with formal Islamic knowledge, this Aalimah (female scholar) and Haafizah of Qur'aan (one who memorized the whole Qur'aan) dared to speak out in world of ignorance against the exploitation of innocents. In the name of religion, Mullahs selling charms and amulets in the name of Islam were challenged by our enlightened sister, as the Prophet himself (pbuh) prohibited these objects and called them "Shirk" (Idolatry). In order to silence her and the truth of Islam, the Mullah falsely accused her of burning the Qur'aan, and the enraged hysterical crowd in a frenzy beat her to death in front of the police. May Allah give you the highest station in paradise for your sacrifice, dear sister Farkhunda, and may the aftermath of events awaken and enlighten the Afghan nation, the Muslim nation and the world. And may those who brutally murdered her be brought to justice in this life before the next and be made to pay the price of their most vicious and evil act. Dr Bilal Philips (see his FB)
Protests have been growing in the Afghan capital, Kabul, over the lynching of a woman who was falsely accused of burning the Koran.
More than 2,000 people marched to demand justice for Farkhunda, 28, who was beaten to death by a mob last week.
Tuesday's protests came as the police spokesman for Kabul was sacked for posting a Facebook message endorsing the killing.
Police say they have arrested at least 19 people over the incident.
Farkhunda was beaten to death last Thursday after arguing with a mullah about his practice of selling charms to women at a shrine. In the course of the argument she was accused of burning the Koran and a crowd overheard and attacked her. BBC News
